About Me

Hi there, I’m Orla. I’m a qualified postpartum doula, birth debriefing facilitator, breastfeeding counsellor, and now an antenatal educator in training as well. I am a mom to three perfect little people. In a previous life, I was a HR & finance administrator, but decided to stay at home full time to be with my babies when I became a mother in 2020. You’ll usually find me stuck in a book or recharging in nature, my biggest loves outside of raising my babies and helping others with theirs!

My first birth was a very medicalised and difficult early induction during the pandemic. I laboured alone for 28 hours before my husband joined me briefly for the birth and then had to leave again due to restrictions. My postpartum and breastfeeding experiences sadly came with a lot of trauma, it was a very difficult and lonely start to motherhood. Following my experience with my first baby, I decided to do things very differently for my second and third. I went on to have two beautiful, empowering homebirths and magical breastfeeding journeys that healed me and taught me so much about what women are capable of and the care and support we need and deserve.

The silver lining of my experience with my first baby is that it gently shoved me in the direction of what I fully believe is my calling. I jumped head first into taking on lots of trainings and learning as much as I could about matrescence, breastfeeding, postpartum, birth trauma, infant sleep and much more. Supporting women as they become mothers is my greatest passion outside of my own motherhood.

Now, as well as being home with my babies as they grow, I get to spend lots of time supporting parents as a doula both virtually and in person, running my local Cuidiú branch and breastfeeding group, speaking at events and continuing my studies. I feel so privileged to be able to walk this path with families. Parenthood truly takes a village - I would so love to be a part of yours.
